The Mod Club

The Mod Club Theatre is Toronto's newest and hottest Brit-themed music venue. Located in the heart of the city's very cosmopolitan College St. club district, the dance club is styled upon the Mod culture of 1964 London that inspired the Who's classic rock opera Quadrophenia.

Amid bold, op-art graphics, Lambretta scooters and nattily-attired young patrons, the sounds of 60's R&B, ska, Motown and British rock are supplied via the club's new Adamson SpekTrix compact line array system. Sixteen Adamson SpekTrix enclosures and six SX Subs were used for the club installation, which also includes XTA processing and a Soundcraft console.

"The SpekTrix is the perfect solution for smaller venues where a full-size line array isn't practical," said Jesse Adamson, who designed the club's sound system. "We've listened to what our customers want, and the SpekTrix offers that — affordability, ease-of-use, a more compact size and light weight — without sacrificing the benefits of our patented wave-shaping sound chamber technology." The club installation is the first to use Adamson's latest product.

The SpekTrix is a three-way, true line source enclosure weighing only 62 lbs and featuring Adamson's new Revolving Disk Rigging.

"The Mod Club Theatre is completely satisfied with the Adamson SpekTrix system," said the venue's Production Manager, Mark Prinsloo. "We have a large dance floor to cover as well as a balcony, and the SpekTrix rig gave us a lot to work with. The boxes were easy to hang and adjust — the self-contained rigging and the light weight of the box made it a snap. Our patrons love it."
