| Korean Church of Queens
The Korean Church of Queens, is a medium sized facility in New York. It, like most church buildings, has special requirements and a unique set of audio challenges. Their old, conventional system was known for a general lack of clarity, and poor coverage in the mezzanine and under the balcony. The monitor system was also a constant source of complaints from the Pastor, choir, and band.
After conducting research into what kind of speaker system to use, an Adamson Spektrix compact line array was recommended. They felt that the combination of size, vocal clarity, and raw power, would make them an ideal choice for the application. Adamson was also the choice for the stage monitors and fill speakers. “Now, we have clear uniformed sound from top to bottom of the church. The Band loved their 10MX monitor speakers. Also, CB-1s are doing a great job as under balcony speakers.” commented, FOH Engineer Mr. Yoon Hak Lee.
The installation also includes a Midas Verona 480 with TC and Lexicon effects. The Adamson speakers are powered by Crown IT series on the mains and MA series on the monitors and fills. XTA DP224s handles the processing and GQ-600s were put in line for graphic EQ.
During the installation, Mr. Hwang who runs a mastering studio in Korea and acted as a consultant for the church said, “The Adamson Y-Axis Shooter computer program made our job much easier and allowed our clients to better understand their new system. As predicted by the software, nine Spektrix, including two Spektrix WAVEs at the bottom of the rig, per side, gives good coverage from top (of the mezzanine) to bottom (the front rows). Processed with XTA DP224, six Adamson CB-1s perfectly cover under the balcony."
